All DVDs will not play

If multiple DVDs fail to play on your system, try the following:

Check if the issue is only with home-made discs.

If store-bought discs play but home-made discs do not, see see Home-made DVDs will not play.

Determine if the playback issue is with a particular DVD.

Try another DVD in the system. If a particular disc does not play, see Certain DVDs will not play.

Determine if sound can be heard when playing a disc in internal DVD player.

If there is video but no audio, see No audio from product.

Determine if there is sound but no picture when playing a disc in internal DVD player.

If there is audio but no video, see No video from the built-in DVD player.

Be sure the disc is inserted with the label facing up.

Place the disc in your system with labelled side of the disc facing upward. If there is no label, try both sides.

Be sure your system supports the type of disc you are trying to play.

If the issue is with certain types of discs, check that your system supports that type of disc. For more info, see Disc compatibility charts.

Reset your media center.

A reset is used to correct occasional product issues. It is not something that a product should require repeatedly. For more information, see Resetting your product.

Your media center may need service.

If the steps provided do not resolve your issue, your product may need service. Follow the link below for more information on how to service your product. Depending on your product and region, you will be provided a contact number or the ability to setup service online.
