Setting Audio Priority

The Audio Priority setting lets you choose which type of audio connection to use for the video you're watching. This is helpful if you get video from your cable box via an HDMI cable and audio via an optical cable.

Setting audio priority:

Note: This setting is available on systems with console software 010200 or higher. For more info, see Checking the software or firmware version.
  1. On the remote control, press the System button.
Tip: If the system menu does not appear on your TV, be sure the correct TV input is selected.
  2. Scroll left of right to select Audio.
  3. Scroll down to DVD Audio Priority or CBL-SAT Audio Priority.
Tip: The DVD and CBL-SAT options can be set independently when connecting via HDMI to the DVD or CBL-SAT inputs on the back of the system console.
  4. Scroll right to select the current setting.
  5. Scroll up or down to select a setting:
    1. HDMI: Select this if audio from the connected device is being sent via an HDMI cable.
    2. Optical/Coax: Select this if audio from the connected device is being sent via an optical or digital coaxial cable.
  6. Press the Exit button to exit the menu.
